City of Bloomington Offers Curbside Christmas Tree Collection Dec. 30 Through Jan. 23

(BLOOMINGTON) – The Sanitation Department will collect Christmas trees and wreaths Monday, December 30, 2019, through Thursday, January 23, 2020.

Residents may place trees and wreaths at the curb on regular collection days. Ornaments, lights, and all other decorations must be removed; and trees and wreaths may not be placed in plastic bags.

Items should be placed at the curb by 5 a.m. on collection day.

The Sanitation Department would like to remind residents that composting and mulching are green ways to reduce waste while creating useful fertilizer for the yard or garden.

Composting is natural, easy, requires almost no maintenance and can be done in any number of ways.

Additionally, the Sanitation Division (solid waste and recycling removal) reminds customers that it will operate on a one-day delay Wednesday, January 1 and Thursday, January 2.

Sanitation customers whose regularly scheduled collection day is Wednesday or Thursday should place waste and recycling carts on the curb by 5 a.m. one day after their regular day this week.

For more information regarding Christmas tree collection procedures or the sanitation removal delay, please contact City Sanitation Director Rhea Carter at 812-349-3443. More information is available at the City’s sanitation webpage.
