(SPRINGS VALLEY) – Lucille Vaal, a senior at Springs Valley Junior-Senior High School, was named Orange County’s 2020 Lilly Endowment Community Scholar.
She received a four-year, full-tuition scholarship to the Indiana college of her choice and a $900 yearly stipend for required books and equipment.
Lucille is the daughter of Robert and Donna Vaal and plans to attend DePauw University to study psychology before pursuing a doctorate or furthering her education with a law degree.
She is a member of student council, SADD, FCCLA, and FFA. She is the secretary of her school’s chapter of the National Honor Society and is a member of the Springs Valley High School Academic Team and the Orange County Community Foundation Youth Council.
Lucy has volunteered her time tutoring, ringing bells for the Salvation Army, helping with elementary field day and assisting with Fine Arts Night at her school. She was also a part of the National Student Leadership Conference at Yale University.
