(ROCKVILLE) – The sounds of Christmas carols and the scent of cookies filled the air at the Rockville Correctional Facility (RCF) as over 50 volunteers with the Gospel Echoes Team made their annual visit to the facility.

The Gospel Echoes Team has been coming to RCF for 15 years with its Cookies Project and has affectionately become known as the “Cookie People”. With a bag of homemade cookies for every offender and staff this talented group spreads the Christmas spirit by acapella song.
Their website states, in part, “The Cookie Project is a special outreach to prisoners each year just before Christmas. It’s an opportunity to bring some cheer and a message of hope to prisoners during the loneliest time of the year.” This year the team will visit over 20 Indiana prisons and share over 200,000 cookies.
RCF Chaplin Paul Johnson commented, “We are blessed to have such a caring group of volunteers who come each year from the Gospel Echoes Team. Their Cookie Project is a tangible reminder to all the offenders that they are not forgotten and demonstrates the meaning of Christmas.”
