Indiana Chamber Acknowledges Cyber Threat to Businesses, Hosts Summit in January

(INDIANAPOLIS) — Cyberattacks are the most significant risk factor facing Hoosier businesses today, says the Indiana Chamber of Commerce. The goal of the organization’s 2020 Business Technology Summit is to provide information to help companies protect themselves.

The event, held January 22-23 at the Marriott Indianapolis Downtown, will feature the FBI, industry experts and leading employers.

“This program is for anyone who has a role regarding personal or confidential data – whether it’s customer, student or employee information, or trade secrets or proprietary material,” offers Kerri Begley, Indiana Chamber vice president of business education and events. “Are you utilizing the best technology available to protect all those interests and more importantly, are you using it safely?”

Summit presenters will share tips and strategies on how to maintain a secure environment for databases and client information. What happens in a real-world cyberattack scenario and how universities are working to produce cybersecurity-ready professionals are also agenda items.

The opening keynote by the FBI’s Alex Middleton, assistant special agent in charge of the Indianapolis field office, focuses on cyber threats in the private sector.

Additionally, there will be a session about the risks and rewards associated with Internet of Things and how it’s going to impact business in the coming years. Seven panel discussions will be featured as part of the educational seminars.

Cost for the full conference is $499 for Indiana Chamber members; $599 for non-members. Single day registration is offered, and group discounts are available.
