(BEDFORD) – Bedford Revitalization Inc. is putting the final touches on a cherished holiday tradition – Christmas Around the Square. The event is scheduled for Saturday.
Those attending can visit the Open Air Christmas Market and enjoy food from local food trucks and purchase Christmas crafts and gifts from vendors beginning at 3 p.m. until 7 p.m.
The Christmas Market will be set up on J Street between 15th and 16th streets.
Christmas music will fill the air putting everyone in the Christmas spirit
Businesses will be open offering special Christmas deals. Many of the downtown merchants will have festive Christmas window displays. Last year, Turpen & Deckard, CPA, won the window lighting display contest. Take a family stroll around the square and enjoy the Christmas sights and pick you favorite display.
The Downtown Depot (at the corner of 14th and J streets) will be busy with activities starting with a free live reindeer exhibit on the front lawn from noon until 3 p.m.
Young children can take a free ride on the Barrel Train from 3 p.m. until 5 p.m. at the Downtown Depot. Elsa and Anna from the movie Frozen will be onsite from 3 p.m. until 5 p.m. to visit with those attending.
Children can share their Christmas wishes with Santa Claus at the Downtown Depot from 3 p.m. until 5 p.m. Free photos will be provided to those visiting with Santa. Photos will be uploaded on BRI’s website by December 10th.
At 5:30 p.m. Parade Grand Marshal Shawna Girgis will flip the switch for the Lighting of the Tree in Harp Commons from the step in front of the Miss Indiana statue on the east side of the Courthouse square.
The 2019 Bedford Christmas Parade, the largest illuminated Christmas parade will step off at 6 p.m.
