Three People Die in Martinsville Mobile Home Fire

(MARTINSVILLE) – Three people died in a mobile home fire on Orth Outer Drive in Martinsville early this morning.

Firefighters responded to the mobile home fire just after 1 a.m. on North Outer Drive, near State Road 37 and South Ohio Street.

Firefighters arrived to find the mobile home engulfed in flames.

All the victims were adults — two men and one woman. One of the victims, a 39-year-old man, owned the mobile home.

The Morgan County Coroner’s Office said it will likely need DNA or dental records to identify at least one of the victims.

Firefighters have not determined the cause of the fire but did say it spread quickly. Firefighters did find two space heaters that were being used to heat the trailer but there is no confirmation that the heaters caused the fire.

Officials say an investigation into the cause of the fatal fire is underway and the state fire marshal has been alerted and is assisting in the investigation.

No firefighters were injured while battling the blaze.

WBIW will update this story when more information becomes available.
