(INDIANAPOLIS) – White River State Park (WRSP) has chosen former Special Projects, Events & Office Manager, Maggie Ranallo, as Deputy Director under current Executive Director, Carolene Mays-Medley.

Maggie Ranallo

As Deputy Director, Ranallo will oversee marketing, events and community outreach. She is tasked with developing both short and long term strategies for several departments including marketing and social media, the Visitor Center,  special events, and the Governor’s Summer Internship Program for White River State Park. She will also oversee the parking facilities and parking management company.

“We are thrilled to have Maggie serve in this capacity,” said Carolene Mays-Medley, executive director of the White River State Park Development Commission. “Since joining our team last year, she has brought incredible energy and generated fantastic ideas to assist in growing our brand and ensuring that the park is accessible and welcoming to a diverse set of audiences. We look forward to her continued efforts.”

Ranallo joined WRSP in 2018 as the Special Projects, Events and Office Manager. In her role, she was charged with moving the ball forward in implementing special in-house events for White River State Park, that had been developed in theory but not executed. Her vision brought these programs to life, positioning the park and its green spaces as a main attraction in addition to all of the venues that call the park home. Ranallo successfully implemented a number of unique program event series including the park’s popular Yappy Hour series, a friend, family, and pet friendly happy hour event, as well as, Goonies on the Green, a cult-classic movie screening on the Indiana State Museum lawn.

“There is so much to see, do and experience at White River State Park and I am very excited to be a part of the team,” said Maggie Ranallo, deputy director for the White River State Park Development Commission. “Ensuring that WRSP is seen as a premiere venue and destination for everyone no matter their interest is my goal. The feedback we’ve received this past summer from event attendees, vendors and partners after rolling out some of our newest initiatives has been very rewarding. I look forward to continuing to grow and expand our brand and events in 2020 and beyond.”

Prior to joining WRSP, Ranallo worked with Visit Indy, creating events and experiences to help sell Indianapolis as a top meetings, events and leisure destination. She has been a part of the Indianapolis event and hospitality industry for four years. Ranallo is a graduate of Indiana University Purdue University Indianapolis with a master’s degree in Event Tourism. She has served on many local organizing committees for city-wide events and recently graduated from the FBI Citizens Academy.
