(SEYMOUR) – Seymour’s aggressive serving powered the Owls to a three-set sweep of Bedford North Lawrence during high school volleyball action on Tuesday night.

The Owls (16-15) cruised to a 25-20, 25-13, 25-20 victory.

The Stars scrambled to a 20-18 lead in the opening set before faltering, and owned a 14-12 lead in the third.

“We had way too many missed opportunities,” BNL coach Jordan Robbins said. “Our serve receive killed us. Seymour served aggressively and they picked apart our passers.

“Our kids can pass, it’s having the discipline to do the little things right that we preach over and over. When our kids decide to do that, we make great plays and put the ball away. We just need more of it and the consistency isn’t there.”

Merritt Callahan was 12 of 12 serving with 10 assists and 4 digs, Carlee Kern was 9 of 10 serving with 4 aces, 6 kills and 6 digs, Annie Waggoner was 10 of 10 serving with 9 digs and 6 assists, and Brynlea Bennett was 6 of 6 serving with 4 kills and 7 digs for the Stars.

“You have to give credit to Seymour,” Robbins said. “They played tough and made great plays, they deserved the win.”

BNL (4-20, 1-6 in the Hoosier Hills Conference) will host Loogootee on Thursday on Teacher Appreciation Night.
