Miami Correctional Facility Announces New Community Engagement Coordinator

(BUNKER HILL) – Miami Correctional Facility (MCF) Warden William Hyatte announces James Frye as the Community Engagement Coordinator and Public Information Officer for MCF. The scope of community engagement includes the effective use of community resources to address the needs of the facility and the population and supports the Department’s mission and vision.

Frye brings 17 years of correctional experience to his new position. He began his Department of Correction career as a Correctional Officer at MCF in 2002. He promoted to Correctional Sergeant in 2007 and then to Correctional Lieutenant in late 2018.

“I am very excited about the new challenge. I look forward to working with the public, volunteers, and staff,” Frye says “I am a firm believer it takes the Department of Correction and the community to prepare offenders for successful reentry.”

Warden Hyatte stated, “Mr. Frye brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to this position. Due to his prior achievements working up through the ranks, he is very familiar with all positions, posts, and the inner workings of this facility as well as knowing its background and history.”

Frye is married with three children and lives in Cass County. He enjoys spending time with his wife, hunting, and fishing. Frye also enjoys camping and woodworking.Â
