(ORANGE CO.) – Because of the extremely dry conditions, the Town of Orleans along with the rest of Orange County is now under an Emergency Burn Ban, effective immediately until further notice.
Town and emergency officials are reminding residents that an extreme fire danger exists during this time.
No open burning will be allowed with the exception of gas or charcoal grills and NO burn permits will be issued during this time.
Orleans Municipal Fire Department officials are urging residents to use extreme caution during this time as conditions are right for field and grass fires to start and spread quickly.
Another concern is that fires can spread quickly putting structures and even possibly lives in danger.
