Bedford Housing Authority Welcomes New Board Member John Knapp

(BEDFORD) –  The Bedford Housing Authority welcomes a new board member John Knapp.

Mayor Shawna Girgis appointed Knapp to the Board. His appointment will bring the Board up to a full seven-member board.

Other board members include Carla Abel, Mel Rile, Myra Shipman, Dianna Tulusek, DeWayne Turpin, and Myra Shipman.

The Board was informed that the contract for roof repairs at Hamilton Court Apartments has been awarded to Waldrip Construction at a total cost of $23,520. The Housing Authority budgeted $50,000 for the project.

Bedford Housing Authority Director Bobby Ames attended Environmental Training recently. The training prepared her to complete lengthy reports that must be filed with HUD. The training spanned over three days. Ames also plans to attend another training session on procurement in the near future.

The bus stop at Hamilton Courts is now complete. Lawrence County Community Foundation donated $2,500 towards the project.

In final business, Resolutions 549 and 550 were approved by the Board. The resolutions pertain to updating of rules per HUD requirements.
