(INDIANAPOLIS) — Employers can learn powerful strategies for employee well-being while having a little fun at the 2019 Indiana Wellness Summit on September 17-18.
The event, a partnership between the Indiana Chamber of Commerce and the Wellness Council of Indiana (WCI), takes place at the JW Marriott Indianapolis downtown.
Attendees will hear what’s trending in employee wellness programming while engaging with other organizations.
“The real benefit of the summit comes from spending time with like-minded people in the employer wellness space,” says WCI Executive Director Jennifer Pferrer. “It provides another way for people to learn from one another and find ideas to implement wellness programs within their own organizations.”
Companies will share their stories via panels and breakout sessions covering topics such as diabetes, tobacco, opioids and mental health, as well as, employee engagement, lifestyle medicine, data analysis, and culture.
Keynote presentations include: Life on Purpose: How Living for What Matters Most Changes Everything (Vic Strecher, of the University of Michigan and Kumanu, Inc.); Creating a Thriving Culture: It’s a Two-Way Street(Rebecca Johnson of Vidl Solutions, Inc.); and Innovation for the Greater Good (Dora Lutz of GivingSpring).
The event also features an update from Indiana Workforce Recovery, the joint initiative created in collaboration with the WCI, Indiana Chamber and Gov. Eric Holcomb’s administration. The goal of the initiative is to prepare Hoosier employers to deal with public health crises like substance misuse that impact the Indiana workforce. On the summit agenda: employer survey results, new state workforce recovery guidelines, a toolkit, and best practice second-chance programs.
Additionally, a variety of activities and interactive gatherings are on tap. The AchieveWELL Awards Luncheon, WCI’s recognition program, will take place on September 17. The Wellness Expo, featuring nearly 50 vendors, will be open September 18. Earlier that day, Beyond Monumental, a free morning run/walk gets moving at 6:30 a.m. along the Indianapolis Canal.
Cost for the full summit is $499 for Indiana Chamber or Wellness Council of Indiana members; $599 for non-members. Additional options, such as a one-day pass or student discount, and group discounts are available. Register online at indianawellnesssummit.com or call (800) 824-6855.
