Kokomo Man Wins $1 Million on Hoosier Lotto Ticket

(KOKOMO) – One Hoosier is a million dollars richer.

Lowell Wiggins, 67, of Kokomo bought a Hoosier Lottery ticket at Woody’s Food Store on Sunday.

He told the Kokomo Tribune he fell asleep, but woke up in the middle of the night early Monday morning. He decided to check the numbers to see if he won anything.

He did. $1 million, to be exact.

“I didn’t have my glasses on, but I could tell I hit the money, so I put on my glasses just to make sure I was seeing what I was seeing,” he said. “Then I went back to sleep.”

On Monday, he signed his ticket and claimed his prize money.

Wiggins — a custodian at Kokomo High School — says he doesn’t have any big plans with the money.

“I’m going to invest it and make sure my retirement is going to be good and healthy,” he said.

Even though he’s now a winner, Wiggins plans on still playing the Hoosier Lottery, because it’s fun.

The Hoosier Lotto jackpot is currently $43.3 million. The next drawing is Saturday.
