(SPEEDWAY) – Sports cars are coming to the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.
IMS President Doug Boles announced Friday morning that they will host the Intercontinental GT Challenge in October 2020.
“Our loyal fans will love the ultra-competitive action of the Intercontinental GT Challenge and GT World Challenge America when it comes to IMS in October 2020,” IMS president Doug Boles said in a news release. “The global endurance format featuring the world’s best GT drivers and teams guarantees fast and furious action from the start all the way to the checkered flag.”
GT racers use different models of sports cars provided by companies like Ferrari, Porsche and BMW. Manufacturers employ regional teams for races.
The “Indianapolis 8 Hours” will be included in the 2020 GT World Challenge, being the fourth of five races in the season, spanning five continents.
The circuit also races in Australia, Europe, Japan, and Africa.
