Wiley Art Gallery Hosting Local Artist Trish Hillenberg

(BEDFORD) – The Wiley Art Gallery will host an art show by local artist Trish Hillenberg, with a public reception Friday from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m.

Hillenberg grew up in Lawrence County, where she and her husband Dennis live in the Guthrie area. She has enjoyed drawing since childhood and received a graphic arts degree from Ivy Tech Community College, where instructor Ken Bucklew introduced her to the joys of painting. After a cancer diagnosis and other health issues, she decided to focus on painting. With her husband’s support, she now devotes many hours to honing her talent and sharing it with others.

Her plein air work has won numerous awards at art events, including Best of Show and People’s Choice ribbons. Her paintings have been juried into exhibits of the Indiana Heritage Arts and can be seen in the book Painting Indiana III: Heritage of Place. The Brown County Gallery also exhibits her work. Her painting of The Wiley Art Gallery graces the cover of the book, Artists Feature Lawrence County.

She will be offering an open, drop-in class on Tuesday evenings at the Wiley Art Gallery.

Hillenberg’s reception Friday is an opportunity for art lovers to meet this uniquely talented Lawrence County artist. Cards and prints will be available for purchase along with a large selection of her paintings.

The Wiley Art Center is at 14th and J streets in downtown Bedford. Hours are Thursdays and Fridays, from 1-5 p.m., and Saturdays, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Hillenberg’s show will continue through Aug. 17, 2019.
