New Animal Experiences Coming to the 2019 Indiana State Fair

(INDIANAPOLIS) – Show animals, performing animals, heroic animals – we’ve got them all at the 2019 Indiana State Fair! While livestock competitions continue to be a key element of the Fair, just as they have since the State Fair began in 1852, fairgoers can expect some new animal events to make their debut this year.

Goat Yoga

Self-care meets barnyard fun with this popular pastime. Goat Yoga is coming to the 2019 Indiana State Fair! On Sunday, August 4, Happy Goat Lucky Yoga will bring an entourage of playful goats well-versed in the art of yoga. These Zen experts will climb, cuddle, and entertain as fairgoers partake in a 60-minute session of yoga for beginners. Sessions will begin at 9 a.m., 10:30 a.m., 1:30 a.m., and 3 a.m. To sign up for this unfor-GOAT-able experience, visit the State Fair website. Cost is $20.

K9 Crew Trick Dog Show

Trained by the husband and wife duo Tony and Sarah Hoard, the K9 Crew Trick Dog Show has performed for Good Morning America, Animal Planet, the NFL, NBA, MLB, and even competed on America’s Got Talent. Their next stop? The Great Indiana State Fair! Dedicated to providing audiences with cutting- edge entertainment, this talented team of pups receives a first-place ribbon in family fun. Head to the Renewal by Andersen Family Fun park each day of the fair at 11 a.m., 1:30 p.m. 4 p.m., or 6 p.m. for this upbeat show.

Party with the Animals

Become an animal expert with this behind-the-scenes look at life on the farm! Each morning at 10 a.m. and each night at 6 p.m., fairgoers are invited to walk and feed livestock as they gain backstage access to Animal Town presented by Indiana Farm Bureau. If you’ve ever wondered what it takes to care for a farm animal, this experience is for you! Cost is $10.

Budweiser Clydesdales

Known for their extraordinary strength and impressive feather – otherwise known as the long hairs of the lower leg that cover the hooves – the iconic Budweiser Clydesdales are some of the most recognizable animals in U.S., and you can see them at the Indiana State Fair from August 5 -11! During their stay, these gentle giants will join in the Daily Parade on August 7 and 9 at 6:30 p.m., in addition to participating in the Clydesdale Draft Horse Hitch Show on August 10 and 11 at 6 p.m. Don’t horse around if you want to see these American icons!

In addition to our yoga-loving goats, frisbee-catching canines, and barnyard party animals, the Indiana State Fair will welcome an extraordinary animal guest during the fair. In celebration of the 2019 State Fair theme, Heroes in the Heartland, August 15 will honor four-legged heroes. On this day, K9 Officer Perry of the IMPD will receive recognition for his commitment to public safety. K9 Perry has served the city of Indianapolis as an explosive protection dog since 2014. Working every event for the Colts, Pacers, and even Presidential visits, K9 Perry uses his keen sense of smell to locate firearms, bombs and bad guys. Day in and day out, K9 Perry is proof that not all heroes wear capes. Some wear a collar.

About the Indiana State Fair

The Indiana State Fair is the state’s largest multi-day event celebrating Hoosiers’ spirit and agricultural heritage. These 17 days celebrate Indiana agriculture and promote it to hundreds of thousands of people across Indiana, and beyond. Nationally recognized for offering great entertainment, showcasing youth, interactive agriculture education programs, premier facilities and a variety of unique, fun foods, the Indiana State Fair has been an annual attraction for generations of Hoosiers since 1852. The 2019 Indiana State Fair will be held August 2-18. To pay tribute to the heroism of everyday Hoosiers, this year’s Indiana State Fair theme is HEROES IN THE HEARTLAND presented by Indiana Donor Network. Throughout the 17-day event, the Indiana State Fair will salute Hoosier farmers, first responders, educators, members of the Armed Forces, and many others who keep us safe and make us proud. Additionally, each day during the fair, Marvel Character and DC Comics Superheroes will be highlighted. For more information, visit www.indianastatefair.com.
