(WARSAW) – Dr. Chris Magiera announced his candidacy for the U.S. House of Representatives from the 3rd Congressional District of Indiana. He is challenging incumbent Rep. Jim Banks in the May 2020 Republican primary election.
“My decision to enter this race is driven by two simple words: career politician,” the physician said. “After a 37-year career as a gastroenterologist, I want to give back to the community by becoming a politician and ‘curing’ the afflictions that plague our federal government.”
Dr. Magiera’s platform rests on voting pro-life, defending the 2nd Amendment, and protecting our nation’s borders. The passion to serve the people is a family affair as his wife, Dr. Pamela Galloway, is a former Wisconsin senator.
According to Dr. Magiera, most of the foreign and domestic crises we face today—such as abortion and life issues, 2nd Amendment challenges, immigration, medical care, and war controversies—originate from “the progressive model of moving away from the principles set down by the Founding Fathers in the U.S. Constitution.”
“The overreaching federal administrative state we have today was never envisioned by our Founders,” Dr. Magiera said. “The people will need to select representatives with wisdom, virtue, and conviction to restore the Founders’ plan, that ‘ALL legislative powers herein granted shall be vested in a Congress of the United States.’ We need a constitution solution.”
Dr. Magiera said he is uniquely qualified for this position because as a Hippocratic oath physician, he made a commitment to practice with wisdom and virtue and, above all, to do no harm. He took an oath to protect his patients and will extend that purpose, drive, and passion to his constituents by standing up for what’s right and making tough decisions based on protecting liberties. Dr. Magiera said he also aims to limit big-government and special interest influence and to empower states to once again govern as the constitution originally intended.
“If elected to this position, I pledge to constitutionally legislate, not delegate, so you won’t have to litigate to reclaim your God-given natural rights and liberties,” he said.
