Department of Child Services Promotes Lahr to Deputy General Counsel Position

(INDIANAPOLIS) – The Indiana Department of Child Services is pleased to announce Erin Lahr as deputy general counsel. In this position, Lahr will provide legal advice and ensure the agency remains in compliance with state and federal laws and regulations.

“I strongly believe in the work DCS does,” Lahr said. “I am excited for the opportunity to take on more of a leadership role in the agency that has trained me and guided my growth from my early days as an attorney.”

Lahr’s promotion comes at a time when DCS is working to strengthen and reorganize its legal division. Lahr previously served as an administrative law judge for DCS and as a local office staff attorney. She has worked for DCS for almost 10 years in several different roles.

“Erin has a passion for helping our state’s most vulnerable children,” said DCS director Terry Stigdon. “Her talent and enthusiasm will be crucial in making sure we as an agency are able to continue focusing on our important job of protecting children from abuse and neglect.”

Lahr currently lives in Greenfield with her family. She graduated with her doctor of jurisprudence degree from the Indiana University Maurer School of Law.
