(BLOOMINGTON) – Milestone Contractors will close both lanes of westbound State Road 45/46 near I-69 in Bloomington on or after Tuesday, June 4, weather permitting, to begin the next phase of a $5 million pavement replacement project.
Westbound traffic will be shifted to eastbound State Road 45/46, with one lane for each direction.
Exit ramps to and from I-69 on the north side of State Road 45/46, in addition to the westbound State Road 46 ramp to southbound I-69 will be closed to traffic during this phase. Detour routes for State Road 45/46 to I-69 are as follows:
- To I-69 northbound: I-69 southbound to exit 118 (State Road 48/Third Street) to I-69 northbound or I-69 southbound to exit 117 (State Road 45/Bloomfield Road/Second Street) to I-69 northbound
- To I-69 southbound: State Road 46 westbound to Curry Pike intersection to State Road 46 eastbound (U-turn) to I-69 southbound.
Detour signage will be placed along the routes.
The traffic shift and ramp closures will be in effect for approximately 75 days.
Following the completion of work in westbound lanes, all State Road 45/46 traffic will be shifted to the newly constructed westbound lanes, with one lane for each direction. Ramps to and from I-69 on the south side of State Road 45/46 will also be closed.
INDOT is working with Indiana University throughout the project to coordinate lane and ramp closures during upcoming high-traffic events.
The project is expected to be complete by November 15, 2019.
