(LOOGOOTEE) – A Jasper man was arrested on charges of rape and child molesting.
On May 28th the Indiana State Police were called to assist the Loogootee Police Department.
According to Indiana State Police Trooper Detective Shane Staggs, 26-ear-old Dakota Lee Browning had met the juvenile victim at a graduation party and had gone to a residence in Loogootee with the victim following that party.
In the early morning hours of May 26 police say Browning went into the bedroom the victim was sleeping in and had sexual intercourse with her against her will.
A warrant was issued for his arrest.
Tuesday, around 1:30 p.m., members of the US Marshalls and Indiana State Police found Browning in the 1300 block of Dewey Street in Jasper.
Indiana State Police says Browning failed to comply with their commands so they used a K9 to take Browning into custody.
They say Browning was taken to the Jasper Memorial Hospital to treat his injuries before being taken to the Martin County Jail on felony charges of rape and child molesting.
