Betty Rose Hackney Horner – Bedford

November 15, 1926 – May 31, 2019

Betty Rose Hackney Horner, 92, died at 11:30 p.m. on Friday, May 31, 2019, at Stonebridge Health Campus.

Born November 15, 1926, in Lawrence County, she was the daughter of Elmo and Eula (Nowling) Hackney. She married Harry M. “Buck” Horner on May 17, 1947, and he preceded her in death on October 25, 1991. She retired in 1988 from the Medora Plastic Factory. Betty was a member of the Fort Ritner United Methodist Church and American Legion Auxiliary #33.

Survivors include one son, Mike Horner and wife Rita of Leesville; one daughter, Vickie Daulton of Bedford; four grandchildren, Brent Trueblood and Elizabeth of Bedford, Jennifer Riley and husband Neil of Bedford, Jessica Wesner and husband Brandon of Leesville, and Brooke Horner-Hayes and husband Erick of Leesville; eleven great-grandchildren, Tyler Trueblood and wife Danielle, Scotty (Amy), Brenten, and Kaeden Trueblood, Emily, Olivia, and Abby Riley, Taylor and Clayton Wesner, and Chandler and Harryson Hayes; three great-great-grandchildren: Treyten, Garrison, and Madelyn Trueblood; one brother, Dick Hackeny and wife Sue of Fort Ritner.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one brother, Billie Hackney, one sister, Genevieve Thompson, and one brother-in-law, Ralph “Dew” Thompson, a son-in-law Bobby Daulton.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, June 5th in the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary with Kenny Dalton officiating. Burial will follow in Dixon Chapel Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, June 4th at the Day & Carter Mortuary.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Dixon Chapel Cemetery fund.
