Bedford Teen Injured After Crashing Car

(HELTONVILLE) – A Bedford teen was injured after he admitted he fell asleep while driving Saturday afternoon.


According to a Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department report, 17-year-old Evan Key, of 104 Shawnee Dr., was traveling north on State Road 446, just south of Hunter Creek Road when he crossed the center line and the 2006 Toyota Corolla left the roadway.
Key told emergency crews he had fallen asleep while driving.
When deputies arrived on the scene Key was standing on the porch with a Monroe County Sheriff’s deputy at a home in the 8160 block of State Road 446.
Key complained of shoulder and upper arm pain. He was transported to IU Bloomington Health Hospital for treatment.
