Pedestrian Killed After Being Struck By Car

(SCOTTSBURG) – Indiana State Police was called to a pedestrian being hit by a car at 10:46 p.m., at North Wilson Road just north of West Weir Road on the northwest side of Scottsburg.


Officers from the Scottsburg Police Department were the first to arrive on-scene.
Indiana State Police Crash Reconstructionists were requested to assist with the investigation. The preliminary investigation reveals that 34-year-old Terry Madden, 34, Scottsburg, was walking northbound on North Wilson Road near the fog line. There are no streetlights on this portion of North Wilson Road.
As Madden continued walking northbound, when he was struck by a black, 2015 Dodge Dart approached from the south. Madden was still on the roadway when he was hit.
The vehicle was operated by a legally licensed juvenile who was the sole occupant of the car.
Terry Madden sustained severe injuries and was rushed to Scott County Memorial Hospital by ambulance. He later died from his injuries.
The driver was not injured. Neither drugs nor alcohol is suspected to be a factor in this crash; however, test results are still pending. The driver has not been cited or charged.
This investigation is on-going.
Units from the Indiana State Police were assisted by the Scottsburg City Police Department, The Scott County Sheriff’s Department, Scott County EMS, and the Scott County Coroner’s Office.
