Josef Newgarden Takes Second Indy 500 Practice

(INDIANAPOLIS, IN) – The second day of Indianapolis 500 practice sessions went to Josef Newgarden on Wednesday.


Newgarden, the current NTT IndyCar Series points leader, pulled off the fasted lap at 228.856 mph.
Not far behind was Scott Dixon, who clocked in at 228.835 mph and Spencer Pigot rounded out the top three with a speed of 228.658 mph.
Meanwhile, Fernando Alonso and Felix Rosenqvist saw their days end early as both were involved in single-car crashes. Alonso made contact with the Turn 3 barrier, causing his car to slide into the interior barrier while Rosenqvist made contact with the outside wall on Turn 2. Both were uninjured.
The third practice session takes place today at 11am EST.
