Canvas, Community, & Cupcake Event April 28

(MITCHELL) – Southern Indiana Adult Guardianship Services (SIAGS) is hosting a Canvas, Community & Cupcake Event Sunday, April 28th from 1 p.m. until 3 p.m. at The Solution Center on West Main Street in Mitchell.


The event is free and open to clients, volunteers, staff and the public.
Guest will arrive at 1 p.m. and be served lunch and learn about Southern Indiana Adult Guardianship Services and volunteering.
“The event is part of our connections, solutions, and awareness grant that was funded by the Lawrence County community foundation,” says Missy Tackett, NCG of SIAGS. “The goal is to educate the community on issues relating to guardianship and to gain volunteers for our program.”
After lunch, those attending will paint the following:

All art supplies will be provided.
SIAGS is one of 17 a VASIA program (Volunteer Advocates for Senior Incapacitated Adults) in Indiana.
“We are funded through a grant from the Indiana Supreme Court,” says Missy Tackett, NCG of SIAGS. “We are much like CASA only for adults. We have more than 35 clients in Lawrence County and 20 volunteers. Our volunteers are the “eyes and ears of the court”. They assist us with advocating for our clients by visiting with them monthly. We have several volunteer training throughout the year and can be available for a one on one training as needed.”
