(MARTINSVILLE) – The lane restrictions on State Road 37 between State Road 252 and Industrial Drive in Martinsville will be lifted today at or around noon to accommodate what will be heavier than normal traffic due to the annual Little 500 bicycle race in Bloomington. More than 25,000 visitors are expected on the IU campus over the weekend.
Even though all through lanes will be open, barrels will still be present and this stretch of highway is considered a work zone. Motorists should watch their speed, leave plenty of room between vehicles and drive with no distractions. An enhanced law enforcement presence will be in the area over the weekend.
On Monday, April 15, crews will reinstate the lane restrictions and continue work in the SR 37 median at Grand Valley Boulevard in preparation for paving work next week.
