Man Arrested After Breaking Into Rental Home

(BLOOMINGTON) – A man was arrested after he broke into a Bloomington rental home Saturday.

According to Bloomington Police, officers were called to the home after receiving a 911 call reporting a burglary in progress in the 1700 block of East Circle Drive just after 9 p.m.
The property manager and a woman whose mother owns the property told police when they arrived they found the lights on and heard water running in the bathroom. The property manager cracked the door open and found a man in the bathroom. They then called 911.
When police arrived, they parked down the road and as they approached the home, found a male attempting to climb out of the bathroom window. He was ordered to stop and come to the front door.
Police arrested 26-year-old Jacob A. Boomsma, who struggled with police during his arrest.
Boomsma is facing preliminary charges of resisting arrest, residential entry, possession of meth, possession of drug paraphernalia, and a warrant charging him with failure to appear in court on a previous charge of burglary.
Boomsma told police a woman had given him permission to stay at the home, but could not give police the woman’s name or phone number and he had found the front door open when he arrived.
Police also seized several gift cards and another person’s identification in Boomsma’s possession. In the bathroom, officers found a bag containing a small amount of meth, and six glass smoking devices.
