Parent Talks: Walking the Talk of Inclusive Excellence

(BLOOMINGTON) – Tonight, the Monroe County Community School Corporation will host a discussion on ‘Walking the Talk of Inclusive Excellence’.

The event will be held at the MCCSC Co-Lab on 553 E. Miller Dr. and is from 6 p.m. until 7:30 p.m.
Inclusive excellence is an enduring commitment, and collective responsibility shared among administrators, educators, staff members, and the community, to ensure equity, access, and opportunities for all students. This commitment must not only be present in our literature but also practiced by our students and the members of our learning community.
Join us for a two-part discussion on culturally responsive and sustaining practices. In part one, we will get up close with our Equity and Inclusion Coordinator and learn about the equity teams in the schools. In part two, we will highlight “Windows and Mirrors,” an approach to children’s literature that derived from culturally responsive practices.
This program provides children with literature that reflects the world around them by positively impacting the view of themselves and those with whom they share similarities and differences.
Parents and the community will have the opportunity to ask questions and engage in a lively discussion on this important topic.
