IU Health Bloomington Hospital Pharmacy Director Receives 2018 Roland E. ‘Bud’ Kohr Award

(BLOOMINGTON) – IU Health Bloomington Hospital Pharmacy Director Derek Fields is being celebrated for his leadership and mentoring. In a regional meeting in February, Fields was awarded the 2018 Roland E. “Bud” Kohr Outstanding Leadership Award.


His nomination contained a robust number of traits that make him deserving of the award. Among the call outs were: “amazing mentor” who is interested in growing his team both personally and professionally; guidance in growing the residency program; and a leader who establishes meaningful relationships among team members.

Fields has worked at the Bloomington hospital for 14 years. He sees this award – named for a previous president of the hospital – as a meaningful milestone marker in his career.
“I see this award as a reflection of hard work, mentorship by exceptional people, a commitment to values and trust from my team. It means a lot to me,” Fields says. He says the award truly defines his personal career goals. “I get the most fulfillment seeing the success and growth of my pharmacy team members. Reducing barriers and providing support for their advancement in delivering exceptional patient care is a major focus for me.”
Recipients of the award exemplify a host of qualities, among them are: honesty, fairness, respect by co-workers and the community, willingness to learn and a show of respect, consideration and equal treatment of all human beings.
