Indiana State Police Investigating Death Of Sullivan County Inmate

(SULLIVAN CO.) – Sullivan County Sheriff Clark Cottom requested the assistance of Indiana State Police in reference to a death investigation of a 46-year-old female that was incarcerated at the Sullivan County Jail.


According to Indiana State Police, the woman was arrested by Sullivan city police for driving while intoxicated Saturday at 1:30 a.m. She was placed in a single person holding cell. Around 8 p.m. Saturday, jail staff witnessed the woman in medical distress over video monitoring in the cell.
The woman was transported to the Sullivan County Community Hospital where she was pronounced dead just an hour late.
There are no preliminary indications of self-harm or foul play.
An autopsy was performed this morning at Terre Haute Regional Hospital by Dr. Roland Kohr.
The investigation is ongoing by investigating troopers Indiana State Police Detectives Mike Taylor and Jason Schoffstall and Sgt. Brandon Mullen.
