“Stop The Bleed” Training To Be Offered To Washington Community School Corporation Faculty

(WASHINGTON CO.) – St. Vincent StatFlight, in collaboration with Crane Credit Union and Daviess Community Hospital, will present “Stop the Bleed” training next week for Washington Community School system faculty.

Stop the Bleed is a national awareness campaign and call-to-action. Stop the Bleed is intended to cultivate grassroots efforts that encourage bystanders to become trained, equipped, and empowered to help in a bleeding emergency before professional help arrives.
The course will be taught Friday, January 25th by St. Vincent StatFlight crew members and St. Vincent Evansville Trauma Services staff.
No matter how rapid the arrival of professional emergency responders, bystanders will always be first on the scene. A person who is bleeding can die from blood loss within five minutes, therefore it is important to quickly stop the blood loss. Those nearest to someone with life-threatening injuries are best positioned to provide first care.
You may be able to save a life by taking these simple actions immediately after the trauma.
Crane Credit Union and Daviess Community Hospital have supported the training by providing funding to purchase 50 emergency kits for distribution to all the schools in Daviess County.
The kits include tourniquets, trauma shears, wound care materials and gloves – items that are critical when providing care to a patient with life-threatening bleeding.
