
(BEDFORD) – Lawrence County will celebrate the 30th year anniversary of the Dr. Martin Luther King March for Unity on Sunday, Jan. 20th.
The Unity March celebrates the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and his dream of social justice, unity and racial healing.
Clarence Brown has organized the event locally for 30 years.
The program will begin in the Lawrence County Courthouse rotunda at 2 p.m. After a short presentation, everyone in attendance will walk the ceremonial march around the courthouse.
The celebration will continue at the First Christian Chruch at 1101 15th Street. Pastor Bruce Ervin will serve as host.
Christa Tahere, former director of the Indiana Universtiy Children’s Chorus, will lead the First Christian’s choir in song.
Lawrence County History Museum President Rowena Cross-Najafi will speak on the considerable contributions African-Americans have made to the Lawrence County community.
