James Wade Patton, Sr. – Springville
April 8, 1944-February 17, 2018
James Wade Patton, Sr., 73 of Springville died at 10:25 AM on Saturday, February 17, 2018 at the I.U. Health Hospice House in Bloomington.
Born April 8, 1944 in Lawrence County, he was the son of Enoch O. and Gertie (New) Patton. He married Linda Lemen on December 28, 1972 and she preceded him in death on October 12, 2003. He was a 1962 graduate of Needmore High School, a U.S. Army veteran serving in Vietnam. He retired from NSWC Crane.
Survivors include two daughters: Amy Garland and husband David of Bedford, and Barbara Patton of Bedford; one granddaughter, Elizabeth Garland of Bedford; six brothers: Donald O. Patton and wife Patty of Solsberry, Samuel O. Patton and wife Eloise of Ellettsville, Clifford D. Patton and wife Sue of Heltonville, George Wayne Patton (his twin) of Springville, Ronald E. Patton of Florida, Keith D. Patton of Bloomington, several nieces, and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, three children: Cameron, Crystal, and James Wade, Jr., one brother, Kenneth D. Patton, and three sisters: Mildred J. Stalker, Virginia R. Owen, and Linda Lou Patton.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, February 21st in the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary with John Lee officiating. Burial will follow in the Hilltop Cemetery where members of the Gillen Post #33 American Legion will accord military rites. Visitation will be from 3 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Tuesday, February 20th and from 9 a.m. until the hour of service on Wednesday at the Day & Carter Mortuary.
