Linda D. Brooking – Bedford
June 2, 1949 – January 3, 2018
Linda Darlene (Baldwin) Brooking, 68, of Bedford, died on Wednesday, January 3, 2018 in Bloomington.
Born June 2, 1949, she was the daughter of Kenneth E. and Lovetta M. (Mikels) Baldwin. She married Ellis “Ed”
Brooking on September 6, 1968 and he survives. She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She loved studying history and genealogy.
Survivors include her husband, Ed, of Bedford; a son, Michael Brooking and wife, Christie, of Martinsville; a daughter, Lisa Parsley and husband, Jason, of Bedford; two grandchildren, Cole and Victoria Brooking, of Martinsville; two brothers, Dale Baldwin and wife, Sharon and Dennis Baldwin; a brother-in- law, Alton Qualkenbush and several
nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Gary and Danny Baldwin, and a sister, Trena Qualkenbush.
A private service is pending for family and close friends.

Marjorie Ann “Marge” Chastain – Bedford
Marjorie Ann “Marge” Chastain, 76, of Bedford, passed away Tuesday, January 2, 2018, at St. Vincent Dunn Hospital.
Born August 11, 1941, in Orange County, she was the daughter of Maudie Morgan. She married Franklin Chastain June 14, 1981, and he preceded her in death June 19, 2015. Marge retired from General Motors and was the owner of Florals by Mac. She enjoyed flowers and her dogs.
Survivors include her children, Kimberly Ann (Wesley) Hall of Bedford, Kelly Jean (Amanda) Cormican of Ohio, Chuck (Jamie) Chastain of Bedford; 10 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren; siblings, Betty Lawyer of Orleans, Buzz Morgan of Orleans, Joe Morgan of Martin County
Her parents; husband; and siblings, Mary Brooking and Anthony Morgan, preceded her in death.
Funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, January 6, at New Union Christian Church with Dr. Robert C. Courson officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Friends may call from 11 a.m. until the service on Saturday at the church.

Roland E. Gaines – Mitchell

Roland E. Gaines, 81, of Mitchell, passed away Tuesday, January 2, 2018, at Indiana University Health Hospice House in Bloomington.
Born May 24, 1936, in Bedford, he was the son of Ray and Addie (Clements) Gaines. He married Patsy Lou Williams on May 26, 1957, at Pinhook.
Roland was a proud employee of General Motors having been hired in August of 1962. He was a machine repairman having become an expert in hydraulics. He was the first Quality Award winner presented to a General Motors employee. Roland retired in 1992 stating that he was leaving the best job in the plant.
Roland was a member of the first board of directors of the Shawswick Volunteer Fire Department, the first board of directors of the Hoosier Hills Credit Union, and served on the board of the South Lawrence Water Corporation, later becoming the manager. He was also a member of the Lawrence County Council.
He was a Boy Scout Master of Troop 339 of the First Baptist Church in Bedford and saw his sons reach the rank of Eagle and Life Scouts. Roland was a member of the First Baptist Church in Mitchell, and served as chairman of the deacons.
Survivors include his wife, Patsy Gaines of Mitchell; sons, Joe F. (Amy) Gaines of Greenville, North Carolina, Jimmy D. (Paula) Gaines of Merritt Island, Florida; grandchildren, Heather (Jacob) Anderson, David Gaines, Samantha (Stephen) Cecil, and Taylor Gaines; great grandchildren, Cameron and Jayden Anderson, Emily and Eli Gaines, Jace and Alivia Cecil; siblings, Betty (Tom) Gerkin of Bedford, Raymond (Jeri) Gaines of Bedford
His parents and siblings, Mary Guthrie, Marjorie Wright, and Jeanette Hudach, preceded him in death.
Funeral service will be at 1:30 p.m. Sunday, January 7, at the First Baptist Church with Reverend Reggie Clark officiating. Burial will be in Knott Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. Saturday a Chastain Funeral Home & Cremation Center and from 12:30 p.m. until the service on Sunday at the church.
The grandchildren want him to be remembered as the writer and reader of the corn
story.

Donna Louise Zollman – Mitchell
July 22, 1950 – January 1, 2018
Donna Louise Zollman, 67, passed away Monday, January 1, 2018, at Mitchell Manor Living and Rehabilitation Center.
Born July 22, 1950, in Springfield, Tennessee, she was the daughter of Robert Donald and Myrtle Louise (Brown) Lamberth. She married James Leonard Zollman April 11, 1974.
Donna retired from Naval Surface Warfare Center and Crane Naval Base with 38 years of service. She was a 50 year member of the Scottsburg Order of Eastern Star. Donna was a very loving and wonderful wife, mother, and grandmother.
Survivors include her husband, James Leonard Zollman of Mitchell; sons, Jason Matthew (Jori) Zollman of Martinsville, Joshua Michael Zollman of Mitchell; grandchildren, Lennon, Sullivan, and Finley Zollman; siblings, Linda (Kenny) Fields of Jeffersonville, Terry Malcheski of Florida; nieces and nephews, Amy Bagshaw of Louisville, Tony (Anne) Bagshaw of Lawrenceburg, Alan Malcheski of California and great nieces and nephews; very special longtime friends, Glinda Ellison, Kathy Lynch, Roger Bagshaw, James Tabor, and Cherie Kinder
Her parents preceded her in death.
