Ronald Kent “Ronnie” Rainey – Bedford
November 5, 1972 – January 8, 2017
Ronald Kent “Ronnie” Rainey, 44, of Bedford, died at 12:40 pm on Sunday, January 8, 2017 at I.U. Health Bedford Hospital.
Born November 5, 1972 in Lawrence Co., he was the son of Dale and Patricia (Ronk) Rainey.
Survivors include his father and step-mother, Dale and Donna Rainey, of Bloomington; his caregivers, Curtis and Michelle Stroud, of Bedford; a sister, Lisa Rainey, of Illinois; his grandmother, Rita Norman, of Bedford; aunts and uncles, Janet and Frank Basinger, of Bedford, Greg and Pam Rainey, of Springville.
He was preceded in death by his mother, his paternal grandparents, Phyllis and Ollie Hall, and Richard Dale Rainey.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, January 11th at the Day & Carter Mortuary with Bro. Keith Thompson officiating. Burial will follow in Springville Cemetery West. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until the hour of service on Wednesday, January 11th at the Day & Carter Mortuary.

John H. Reed – Bedford
September 24, 1921 – January 7, 2017
John H. Reed, 95, of Bedford, died at 5:15 p.m. on Saturday, January 7, 2017 at Meadow Lakes Retirement Center in Mooresville.
Born September 24, 1921 in Indianapolis, he was the son of Alfred L. and Myrtle (Wood) Reed. He married Martha M. Newcombe on April 8, 1946 and she preceded him in death on August 22,1982. He later married Betty L. Fleming on August 31, 1985 and she preceded him in death on December 18, 2007. He graduated from Purdue University with a degree in metallurgical engineering. He retired as a metallurgical engineer at General Motors after thirty-five years of service. He was a veteran of the Army Air Force serving during WW II. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church and the Elks Lodge.
Survivors include a daughter, Patricia E. Schmidt and husband, Bob, of Plainfield; a brother-in- law, one step grandchild; several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, both wives, a grandson Michael N. Denman; three brothers, Theron, Byron and Maurice.
Following John’s wishes of cremation, an inurnment will be conducted at a later date in Cresthaven Memory Gardens.

Asa A. Burgess – Bedford
September 14, 1929 – January 9, 2017
Asa A. Burgess, 87, of Bedford, passed away at 2:49 a.m. on Monday, January 09, 2017 at Stonebridge Health Campus.
Born September 14, 1929, in Lawrence Co., he was the son of John E. and Lillie (Clouse) Burgess. He retired from Public Service Indiana in 1991 after thirty-nine years as a sub-station construction mechanic. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army. Asa was an avid BNL Lady Stars sports fan and supporter. He kept the books for the Lady Stars Softball Team for many years.
Survivors include two daughters, Sherry Mitchell, of Mitchell and Phyllis Wilson, of Bedford; two sons, Kevin A. Burgess and wife, Donna, and Bradley A. Burgess and wife, Tammy, all of Bedford; twelve grandchildren, Amber, Mandy, Bradley, Jr., Michael, Maria, Zachary, Jessica, Sara, Kimberly, Creighton, Lloyd Dale, Jr., and Carolyn Sue; 21 great grandchildren, and his loving companion and friend of eighteen years, Carol Crane.
He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers, Charles, Robert M., John M, and Carl Burgess; three sisters, Phyllis C. Burgess, Louella Casey, and Margaret Lowrey; four great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Saturday, January 14th in the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary with Rev. Jay Bennett officiating. Burial will follow in Cresthaven Memory Gardens. Visitation will be from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Friday, January 13th and from 9 a.m. until the hour of service on Saturday, January 14th at the Day & Carter Mortuary.
