James M. “Matt” Burnette – Springville
March 9, 1914 – November 25, 2016
James Matthew “Matt” Burnette, 102, of Springville, died Thursday morning at Stonecroft Health Campus in Bloomington.
Born March 9, 1914, in Tarpin Creek, Kentucky, he was the son of William Alfred Burnette and Amanda Jane Thompson. He married Irla Oneita Strauser on October 26, 1939 and she preceded him in death on September 11, 2014.They were 45 days away from their 75th anniversary. He had worked as a hod carrier, farmer, and quarry driller in Lawrence and Monroe Counties. He was a member of the Springville Trinity Pentecostal Church.
Survivors include two sons, Raymond Doyle Burnette and Donald Matthew Burnette and his wife Yvonne Lou, all of Springville; eight grandchildren, James, Robert, Michael, Scott, Jerry, and Randall Burnette, DeLinda Allexander, and Theresa Allen; Fourteen great-grandchildren; and twelve great-great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, fourteen brothers and sisters; two great grandsons; a daughter-in-law, Leona Sue Burnette.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, November 30th in the Elmwood Chapel of Day & Carter Mortuary with Rev. Wendell Phillips officiating. Burial will follow in Hilltop Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 till 8 p.m. on Tuesday, November 29th and from 10 a.m. until the hour of service on Wednesday, November 30th at the Day & Carter Mortuary.

Boyce E. Turner – Heltonville

Boyce E. Turner, 81, of Heltonville, died at Noon on Tuesday, November 22, 2016 at his residence.
Born January 18, 1935, in Bedford, he was the son of Ralph and Nellie (Eads) Turner. He married Virginia Ehrlich on September 14, 1973 and she survives. He was a retired professional woodworker and he and Virginia were owners of Turner Dolls.
Survivors include his wife, Virginia, of Heltonville; three daughters, Julie Brogden and husband, Andrew, of Carmel, Susan Lowder and husband, Rick, of Zionsville, Teri Doran, of North Vernon; nine grandchildren; two great grandchildren; a sister, Judy Turner Bussmann, of Heltonville.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, November 29th in the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary. A committal service will be at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, November 30th at the Roseland Cemetery in Francesville, IN. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until the hour of service on Tuesday, November 29th at the Day & Carter Mortuary.
The family asks that friends consider memorial contributions be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.

Morris C. Walton – Paoli
Morris Coen Walton, 76, formerly of Mitchell, passed away Wednesday, November 23, 2016, at Baptist Health Floyd in New Albany.
Born June 20, 1940, in Mitchell, he was the son of Coen and Gertrude (Morris) Walton. He married Nancy Catherine Gerkin August 13, 1960. Morris retired from Lehigh Cement Company and was former fire chief of the Marion Township Fire Department. He loved fishing and woodworking, and graduated with the Class of 1958 from Mitchell High School.
Survivors include his wife, Nancy Walton of Paoli; children, Tamara R. Walton of Bloomington, Amy D. (Bryan) Manship of Shelbyville, Philip David (Karen) Walton of Whittier, California; 5 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren
His parents and sister, Philis Sears, preceded him in death.
Graveside service will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, November 30, at Clark Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 p.m. till 7 p.m. Tuesday at Chastain Funeral Home & Cremation Center.

Cherie Lou Mills – Paoli
Cherie Lou Mills, 45, of Paoli, passed away Tuesday, November 22, 2016, in Orange County.
Born August 21, 1971, in Bedford, she was the daughter of Noble Elmer and Dianna Faye (Robbins) Beasley. She married Michael David Mills June 14, 2005. Cherie was a homemaker, a loving wife, and dedicated to her children. She will be missed so dearly.
Survivors include her husband, Michael Mills of Paoli; children, William Yarbrough of Dubois, Alex Yarbrough of Paoli, Cody Wilson of Knox County, Chelsea Wilson of Knox County, Christopher Beasley of Mitchell; parents, Noble and Dianna Beasley of Mitchell; grandchildren, Abbie, Jack, Bentley, Remington, and Raylene; sisters, Dianna Rose Cornett of Orleans, Faye Hall of Bedford
Her brothers, Terry Beasley and Larry Beasley, preceded her in death.
Graveside service will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday, November 29, at Apple Chapel Cemetery. Friends may call from 11 a.m. till 12:15 p.m. Tuesday at Chastain Funeral Home & Cremation Center.

Robert Lee Wells – Mitchell
Robert Lee Wells, 74, of Mitchell, passed away Wednesday, November 23, 2016, at his residence.
Born February 12, 1942, in Lebanon, he was the son of Ellis A. and Ruby (Richardson)
Wells. He married Trudy Kay Howson August 6, 1960.
He retired from Central Transport Trucking Company and was a member of Sugar
Creek Christian Church.
Surviving: wife, Trudy K. Wells of Mitchell; daughter, Rhonda Sue (Andrew) Friend of Lafayette; grandchildren, Jordan G. Friend, Alexander J. Friend, and Brooklyn A. Friend; brother, Richard E. Wells of Indianapolis
His parents and siblings, Ramon G. Wells and Rosemary A. McGuire, preceded him in death.
Funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Monday, November 28, in the Memorial Chapel of Chastain Funeral Home & Cremation Center with Pastor Danny Goens and Aaron Lee officiating. Burial will be in Mitchell Cemetery. Friends may call from 11 a.m. until the service on Monday at the funeral home.
