Letta Mae (White) Purdy, 84, of Heltonville, passed away on Thursday, August 11, 2016 at Indiana University Health, Bloomington.
Born May 13, 1932, in Lawrence County, she was the daughter of Lloyd and Irene (Murphy) White.
She married William “Don” Purdy on June 24, 1950 in Bedford; and he survives.
Letta was a graduate from Heltonville High School, Class of 1950. She retired from North Lawrence Community Schools, where she had worked as a Librarian at Bedford North Lawrence High School and Heltonville School. She was a member of Heltonville Baptist Church.
Surviving are husband, William “Don” Purdy; one daughter, Teresa Davis; two sons, Terry (Sharon) Purdy and Tony (Anita) Purdy; seven grandchildren, Julie (Jim) Lindsey, Michael Davis, Jennifer (Cody) Turpin, Matthew Davis, Troy (Shannon) Purdy, Brent Purdy, and Ryan Purdy; four great-grandchildren, Lexi Lindsey, Brenston Turpin, Eden and Oliver Purdy; three brothers, Darrell White, Dale (Dawn) White, and Kenneth White; one sister, Brenda (Gary) McDonald; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one daughter, Trella Purdy, in infancy; sister, Wilma Wright; and two sisters-in-law Patty White and Phyllis White.
Funeral service will be on Monday, August 15, 2016 at 11 a.m. at Ferguson-Lee Funeral Home, with Pastor David Ferry officiating. Burial will be in Green Hill Cemetery. Friends may call on Sunday, 1 p.m. till 5 p.m. at the funeral home.
