Franklin “Frank” Hillenberg – Bedford

Franklin “Frank” Hillenberg, 85, of Bedford, passed away on Thursday, February 4, 2016 at Stonecroft Health Campus, in Bloomington, after a brief illness.
Born April 5, 1930, in Lawrence County, Indiana, he was the son of John W. Hillenberg and Catherine “Kitty” (Stipp) Hillenberg. He married Roxie (Warren) Hillenberg on August 23, 1965; she preceded him in death on August 2, 2009.
He was a graduate of Heltonville High School. He was a first lieutenant in the United States Army, serving during the Korean Conflict. Frank received a Bachelor’s Degree in Education and later received a Masters and Doctorate in Geography from Indiana University. He was a School Teacher at Parkview Elementary School; a professor of geography at Central Illinois University; and was an avid farmer.
Surviving are three nieces, Arlene (Ed) Potts, Mary Lou (Jerry) Melton, and Karen Sue Phipps; and several great nieces, great nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Roxie; one brother, John Olin (Evelyn) Hillenberg; and one sister, Lorene E. (Wesley) Clifton.
Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. on Monday, February 8, 2016 at Ferguson-Lee Funeral Home, with Pastor Lindy Hopkins officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant Run Cemetery. Friends may call on Monday, 10 a.m. until the service hour at the funeral home.
