James F. Ingalls
James Frances Ingalls, 85, of Bedford, passed away Thursday at Garden Villa, Bedford.
Born December 1, 1928, in Bedford, he was the son of William and Lucy M. (Edmonson) Ingalls.
He married Shirley Ann Babb on March 25, 1951; and she survives.
James graduated from Bedford High School in June 1946 and joined the army in October 1946, where he spent several months in Guadalcanal helping rebuild it following World War II.
After his return from the army, he went to Washington Lee in Lexington, Virginia, where he studied law. While he was there he was called back to Bedford to join his father and his brother, Bill, to start the Ingalls Stone Company and preparing sandstone for builders.
He also studied and joined real estate. He was a member of Bedford City Plan Commission and on the board of the Presbyterian Church. He was the drummer with the Residue Band. He was a member of the American Legion Gillen Post #33; Elks 826; Bedford Boat & Sportsman Club; and the Ideal Club.
Those surviving are his wife, Shirley Ann Ingalls, of Bedford; children, daughter, Cynthia Lynn Ingalls Deckard and her husband William A., of Indianapolis, and son Joseph Edwin Ingalls and his wife Lita, of Westfield; grandchildren, James “David” Ingalls, of Bedford, Samuel Joel Deckard and his wife Kellen Ann Marie, of Dallas, TX, and Jessica Marie Ingalls, of Westfield.
His son James William Ingalls preceded him in death. Also, he was preceded in death by his parents; sisters Lois Ruth Ingalls Zink and her husband Derell Eugene and Lucy Ann Ingalls Hostettler and her husband Admiral Steve Hostettler; and one brother William C. Ingalls and his wife Suzanne.
Funeral services will be on Monday, October 13, 2014, at 1 p.m. at First United Presbyterian Church, with Dr. Daniel M. Watson officiating. Burial will be in Cresthaven Memory Gardens. Friends may call on Monday 11 a.m until the service hour at the Presbyterian Church.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Alzheimer’s Research.

Robert Michael Martin – Mitchell
Robert Michael Martin, 65, of Mitchell, passed away at 10:06 p.m. Wednesday, October 8, 2014, at Salem Crossing in Salem.
Born April 5, 1949, in Bedford, he was the son of Robert Wayne and Marjoria Faye (Hunsucker) Martin. He had been employed at Roberts Brass and Carpenter Body Works. Mike graduated from Mitchell High School in 1967 and was a member of the Bono United Methodist Church.
Survivors include his brother, Gary Lee (Linda) Martin, Mitchell; sister, Tammy Jo (Robert) Jones, Mitchell; nieces and nephews, Kayla Ray, Julie Jones, Derrick Martin, Robert Jones
His parents and nephew, Adam Martin, preceded him in death.
Funeral service will be at 7 p.m. Saturday, October 11, in the Memorial Chapel of Chastain Funeral Home & Cremation Center with Rev. Lindy Hopkins officiating. Graveside service will be at 10 a.m. Monday, at Talbott Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 p.m. until the service on Saturday at the funeral home.
