Winford Doyle Dixon – Ft. Ritner
Winford Doyle Dixon, 94, of Ft Ritner, passed away at 5:05 pm on Saturday, December 28, 2013 at Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis.
Born April 13, 1919, he was the son of Anderson Clay and Mabel (Byrd) Dixon. He married Maggie Ellen (Wesner) Dixon in July of 1945 and she preceded him in death in 2005. Winford retired from General Motors in 1980 and was a veteran of WW II serving with the Army Air Corps in the Pacific Theatre. He was a member of Gillen Post #33 American Legion.
Survivors include a son, Marty Dixon (Mary) of Connecticut; a daughter, Crystal Dixon (Mike Fidler) of Bedford; grandchildren, April Bechard (Zach), Danon Dixon, Lensey Dixon (Brent Ackerman), Anna Gates (Nick), Heidi Thiery (Scott), Shawn Greenlaw (Allison, Carie Stidle (Matt) and Ryan Greenlaw; great grandchildren, Calen Gates, Camden Gates, Colin Bechard, Makenzi Thiery, Maveric Thiery and Marlee Kubinas; a brother-in-law, James Wesner (Joanne); three nephews; two nieces; several great nieces and nephews; one great great niece; his friend and companion, Mrs. Oguerita McKinney of Brownstown and her family. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, a brother, Harvey; a sister, Mildred; three nieces and two nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10:30 am on Saturday, January 4th in the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary. Burial will follow in Dixon Chapel Cemetery in Ft. Ritner. Visitation will be from 4 pm to 8 pm on Friday, January 3rd at the Day & Carter Mortuary.

Wilma (York) Soards – Bedford

Wilma (York) Soards, 86, of Bedford passed away on Sunday December 29, 2013 at 8:12 a.m. at Stonebridge Health Campus in Bedford.
She was born on May 28, 1927 in Paducah, Kentucky to Ray & Reba (Henson) York. She first married Jack Young of Bedford & then married Arthur Soards and he preceded her in death on December 9, 1993. She was a CAN at Bedford Medical Center. She attended Park Place Church of God, & Grace Full Gospel Church both in Bedford.
Wilma always had a smile for everyone and she was a loving mother & grandmother, and loved her Lord dearly. Wilma and her late husband Art had a food pantry in Oolitic for many years on Lafayette Avenue and ministered too many throughout the years.
Survivors include her children; Jackie (Robert) Carra of Florida, JoAnn (Cliff) Hall of Greenwood, Donna (Roger) Deckard of Bedford, David (Kym) Young of Salem, Kevin (Lucy) Young of Judah; 12 Grandchildren; 22 Great Grandchildren and one on the way; one sister; Thelma Martindill of Rogers, Arkansas
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two sisters Edna Martin and Eva Pershing.
Funeral Services will be held on Friday January 3, 2014 at Cresthaven Funeral Home at 11 a.m. Friends may call on Thursday January 2, 2014 from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Cresthaven Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Cresthaven Memory Gardens
Marguerite Cain – Bedford
Marguerite Cain, 86, of Bedford, died at 5:22 am on Monday, December 30, 2013 at I.U. Health Bedford Hospital.
Born October 18, 1927 in Jackson Co., she was the daughter of Narvel and Dora (Clark) Flinn. She married Raymond (Pete) Cain on October 18, 1947 and he preceded her in death on December 3, 2011. She retired from Extruded Alloy after twenty plus years of service. She was a member of the Englewood Baptist Church and the ladies missionary circle. She enjoyed quilting and spending time with family.
Survivors include two daughters, Cathy Gilbert and Tammy Wronowicz and husband, John, all of Bloomington; a daughter-in-law, Jeri Cain of Bedford; five grandchildren, Phillip Cain-Eads of Bedford, Chris Gilbert and wife, Shannon of Maryland, Shad Gilbert of Bloomington, Mandy Allen of Bedford and Brittany Phillips of Bloomington; ten great grandchildren, Kelsi Allen, Kensi Allen, Christopher Gilbert, Alex Gilbert, Laney Gilbert, Alexis Nelson, Bowen Phillips, Shayla Sandoval, Brylee Holguin and Avriana Holguin.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, two brothers, Ike and Herman Flinn; five sisters, Ruby George, Louise Sovern, Iva Sanders, Mary Brown and Chris Hardwick; one son, Phil Cain.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 am on Friday, January 3rd in the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary with Pastor Dave Ferry officiating. Entombment will follow in Cresthaven Memory Gardens. Visitation will be from 4 pm to 8 pm on Thursday, January 2nd and from 10:00 am until the hour of service on Friday at the Day & Carter Mortuary.
