Betty Jean Gilstrap – Bedford

Betty Jean Gilstrap, 85, of Bedford, passed away at 9:15 p.m. on Thursday, December 19, 1013 at Stone Bridge Health Campus.
Born December 25, 1927, in Vigo County, IN, she was the daughter of Logan and Millie (Kelly) Hanson.
She married Robert Dwight Gilstrap on September 18, 1945 in Leesville, IN; and he preceded her in death on May 19, 2006.
She was a homemaker and Co-Owner of Gilstrap Sunoco at the corner of 16th and M. Street. She was a lifelong member of Fairview Community Church. She was a member of the Fairview Ladies Aide.
Surviving are three sons, Dwight (Kathy) Gilstrap, of Paris, TN; Keith (Terri) Gilstrap, of Bedford, IN; and Greg Gilstrap, of Cincinnati, OH; four grandchildren, Sara Templeton, Shelby Gilstrap, Emily Gilstrap, and Abby Gilstrap; two step grandsons, Dax(Megan) Duncan and Landon Duncan, of Avon, IN; and three great grandchildren, Aliza and Haden Templeton and Claire Duncan.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; one daughter, Linda, and one son, Michael, both in infancy; two sisters Mabel and Emaline; and five brothers, James Hanson, Robert Hanson, Lester Hanson, Joe Hanson, and Albert Hanson.
Funeral service will be on Monday, December 23, 2013, at 11 a.m. at Ferguson-Lee Funeral Home, with Pastor Lindy Hopkins officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery. Friends may call on Sunday, 2-6 P.M. at the funeral home and Monday from 10 a.m. until the service hour. Memorial contributions may be made to the Fairview Community Church.

Virginia L. Priddy – Owensburg
Virginia L Priddy, 85, of Owensburg, died Thursday, December 19, 2013 at her residence.
Born October 4, 1928 in Michigan, she was the daughter of Clyde and Ruth (Falls) Harger. She married Garland Priddy on March 18, 1944 and he preceded her in death in 2006. She was an assembler at Westinghouse in Bloomington and later worked in the deli department at Buehler’s Buy-Low in Bedford. She was a member of the Owensburg Baptist Church and Order of the Eastern Star.
Survivors include a son, Mike Priddy and wife, Sabine, of Owensburg; three grandchildren, Michael and Jenifer Priddy and Kimberly Dillard; four great grandchildren, Aaliyah, Nickeless, Kaidin and Trenton Dillard.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a brother, Clydy Harger; two sisters Norma Harger and Grace Curry.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10 am on Monday, December 23rd in the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary with Rev. Jay Collins officiating. Burial will follow in the Owensburg Cemetery. Visitation will be from Noon until 4 pm on Sunday, December 22nd at the Day & Carter Mortuary.

Berenice E. Withers – French Lick
Berenice E. Withers, 102, formerly of Mitchell, passed away at 6:20 a.m. Wednesday, December 18, 2013, at Medco Health & Rehabilitation Center in French Lick.
Born December 13, 1911, in Mitchell, she was the daughter of Emerson and Ethel (Duggin) Elliott. She married Noah Lee Withers and he preceded her in death in 1974.
Berenice was a seamstress and had been employed at Dr. James Oswalt’s office and at Caudell’s Variety Store. She graduated from Mitchell High School in 1929, and was a member of Springs Valley United Methodist Church and United Methodist Women.
Survivors include son, Robert L. (Sharon) Withers, French Lick; 5 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; 7 great great grandchildren; sister, Cordellia Hall, Satellite, Florida; half sister, Emily Walker, Kentucky.
Her parents; husband; daughter, Mary Beth Noe; and brothers, John T. Elliott, Kenneth Elliott, and Ernest Elliott, preceded her in death.
Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Friday, December 20, in the Memorial Chapel of Chastain Funeral Home & Cremation Center with Pastor Linda Watson officiating. Burial will be in Mitchell Cemetery. Friends may call from noon until the service on Friday at the funeral home.

Catherine J. (Cathy) Canfield – Bedford
Catherine J. (Cathy) Canfield, 61, of Bedford, died at 10:50 pm on Monday, December 16, 2013 at St. Vincent Dunn Hospital.
Born December 16, 1952 in Lawrence Co., she was the daughter of Jack D. and Mira Jo “Jodie” (Guthrie) Canfield. She was a member of the St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church.
Survivors include her mother, Mira Jo Canfield of Bedford; a brother, Mike Canfield and wife, Robin of Bloomington; a sister, Terri Delisle and husband, Frank of Colleyville, TX; six nieces and nephews, Justin, Jared, Samantha and John Canfield, Stacie Deckard and husband, Tyler and Ryan Delisle; several great nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her father.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 am on Saturday, December 21st in the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary with Father Rick Eldred and Deacon Dave Reising officiating. Burial will follow in Cresthaven Memory Gardens. Visitation will be from 4 pm to 8 pm on Friday, December 20th at the Day & Carter Mortuary.
