Gary Dean Staggs – Oolitic
Gary Dean Staggs, 60, of Oolitic, died at 5:10 pm on Tuesday, December 16th.
Arrangements are pending at the Day & Carter Mortuary.
Dennis W. Davis, Jr. – East Oolitic
Dennis W. Davis, Jr., 48, of East Oolitic, died Saturday, December 14, 2013 at his residence.
Born August 18, 1965 in Bedford, he was the son of Dennis “Denny” Davis, Sr. and Anita “Arlene” Randolph Davis. He was a veteran of the War in Iraq and served in the National Guard for fifteen years.
Survivors include his parents; a son, Dennis “Buddy” Davis, III, of Mitchell; three brothers, Daniel Davis and wife, Kelly, Donald Davis and wife, Roxie and Dusty Davis all of Bedford; nephews, Josh Davis and wife, Tasha, Jordan Davis and wife, Hannah, Tyler, Eric and Jakob Davis and Jacob Terrell; nieces, Brooke, Kaylea and Lauren; four great nieces; one great nephew; several aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, William and Moneva Davis, Arlis and Imogene Randolph; an aunt, Arleen Thompson and an uncle, Robert Davis.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 am on Friday, December 20th in the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary with Phil Thorne officiating. Burial will follow in Dive Cemetery where military rites will be accorded at the graveside by members of the Gillen Post #33 American Legion and D.A.V. Chapter 2. Visitation will be from 4 pm to 8 pm on Thursday, December 19th at the Day & Carter Mortuary.

Allan Dirrelle Hackney – Mitchell
Allan Dirrelle Hackney, 44, of Mitchell, passed away at 7:30 a.m. Tuesday, December 17, 2013, at his home.
Born May 21, 1969, in Orange County, he was the son of Fredric D. and Linda Ruth (Tincher) Hackney. He graduated from Mitchell High School in 1987. Allan had been employed at Mitchell Motor Sales, Bedford Regional Medical Center, and was a DJ at WBIW Radio. He enjoyed the Brain Games, Facebook, his music, talking with friends, and Who Wants to be a Millionaire.
Survivors include his mother, Linda Hackney,of Mitchell and brother, Brian Hackney, of Orleans.
His father and sister, Amanda Hackney, preceded him in death.
Funeral service will be at 7 p.m. Thursday, December 19, in the Memorial Chapel of Chastain Funeral Home & Cremation Center with Bro. Mike Collins officiating. Graveside service will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Mitchell Cemetery. Friends may call from 3 p.m. until the service on Thursday at the funeral home.
Casketbearers: Kevin Giggy, Steve Grissom, Kevin Karr, Bobby Long, Danny Hopper, Jordan Hawkins, Brian Hackney, and Larry Leonard.

John Elijah Hendricks – Bedford
John Elijah Hendricks, 95 of Bedford, passed away on Saturday December 14, 2013 at IU Health in Bedford.
He was born July 18, 1918 in Mitchell to Elijah and Nellie (Burton) Hendricks. He was married to the late Mary Lou (Lively) Hendricks. He was an Army Veteran of WWII and retired from Crane in 1975. John drove avidly right up to his death traveling from Indiana to Washington State at least once a year by himself, and had driven in every state except Alaska. He also loved photography and shot stills and videos of many people and things. In his job, he was a math expert.
Survivors include a daughter Joyce of Jeffersonville, a son Buddy of Mitchell, two step-sons, Doug of Puyallup, Wa. And Phil of Oak Harbor, Washington, 13 Grandchildren.
Mr. Hendricks was preceded in death by his parents, wife, brother Walter and sister Evelyn and granddaughter Kathy.
Funeral Services will be on Thursday December 19, 2013 at 1 p.m. at Cresthaven Funeral Home. Friends may call on Thursday from 11 a.m. until service time at 1 p.m. at Cresthaven Funeral Home. Burial will be in Cresthaven Memory Gardens, with military honors given by the Mitchell American Legion Post #250.

Harold E. Mitchell, 62, of Bedford, passed away on 2:27 p.m. on December 10, 2013 at IU Health Hospice House in Bloomington. Cremation with no services was chosen.
