Frank Johnson – Bedford
Frank Johnson, 81, of Bedford, passed away in his sleep at his home in Johnson Christian Village after an extended illness.
Frank was an evangelist, minister of the Gospel, husband and father of 5 children. He has been married to the love of his life, Sylvia Beldean Johnson for 35 years.
Frank was born in Buckhorn, Ky May 22, 1932 to Floyd and Mary White Johnson. His childhood years in Eastern Kentucky would lay an early foundation for hard work, love of country, and dedication to the Cause of Christ. In his early teens, Frank’s family would move to Scott County Indiana where his love for the Lord and country directed his steps to enter the Army at 17. This tour of duty would take him to the front lines of the Korean Conflict including the Chosin Reservoir in North Korea. Frank was decorated several times for courageous and effective service including being awarded the Bronze Star.
Still in his early 20’s the young veteran would enter Cincinnati Bible Seminary on the GI Bill. His heart’s desire was to serve Christ, share the gospel of hope, and to equip laborers “for the Harvest of Changed Lives”. For the next 60 years, these themes would be woven through Frank’s life and impact 1,000’s. One of his greatest joys was to see his 5 children faithful to God and serving in the life of the church.
Frank has served more than 6 decades in the ministry in churches Ky, Mo, In, Va, Ca, and Oh. Helped to launch several church and mission endeavors making a difference around the world. These would include serving the 39th Street Christian Church for more than 24 years, giving birth to Johnson Christian Village and laying the groundwork for distance learning at Johnson Christian College. One of Frank’s passions was to encourage dozens to enter full time Christian service. Only in Heaven will we understand the full reach in the harvest of changed lives due to this faithful servant of the Lord.
He is survived by his wife of 35 years Sylvia Beldean Johnson; brothers Fred (Sue), Joe (Patty), Johnny (Karen) and Lonnie (Jackie); sisters Nettie Scott (Clyde) and Alice Marie Neice (Jerry Joe) Russell Johnson and Babs of Bedford and their son Justin (Alicia) and daughter Whitney. Justin’s son Ezra and Whitney’s boy Ashton are great grandsons
Kathy Smith & husband Steve of Columbus, Ohio; Kathy’s children Kristie, Kyle, Kaleb, KoryKaren Stoner and husband Tim of Joplin, Mo; Karen’s children Devon, David, Joshua, Jeff, Chris, and Emily Philip Johnson and wife Lela of Lancaster, Oh; Philip’s children Chanda and Matthew. Chanda’s children are Eric, Justus, and Caleb are great grandchildren Debbie Bennitt and husband Mike of Nixa, Mo; their children Brianna (Peter), Ben, Justin, Ellie. Briana’s son Zeke is a great grandson.
The viewing and visitation will be Thursday afternoon 4 pm to 7 pm at the 39th Street Christian Church just off highway 37 on the south side of Bedford. The funeral services will be held at 2 pm on Friday at the church. Burial will follow in Dive Cemetery. The family requests that gifts be made to the 39th Street Christian Church in place of flowers. Services are under the direction of Ferguson-Lee Funeral Home, Bedford.
Amely L. Hibbard – Heltonville
Amely L. Hibbard, 73, of Heltonville, IN, died at 10:48 pm on Monday, October 28, 2013 at I.U. Health Bedford Hospital.
Born March 14, 1940 in Harlan, KY, she was the daughter of Leonard and Nancy (Wyatt) Brown and Wilfred Gilley. She married Bobby Hibbard on July 6, 1956 and he survives. She retired as a supervisor for Rath Meat Packing in Indianapolis and was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother.
Survivors include her husband, Bobby, of Heltonville; a son, Bobby Joe Hibbard, II and wife, Becky of Camby, IN; a daughter, Karen Darlene Swallers and husband, William of Knightstown, IN; seven grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; five brothers, Clyde, Clifford, Johnny, Leonard and Earl Brown; five sisters, Rosie Mann, Louise Nesbit-Brown, Jan Wimer, Sandy Shivel, Florence Scott and husband, Allen; aunts, Dallas England, Maggie Napier, Dorothy Collier and Wilma McClure; an uncle, Cecil Wyatt.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a daughter, Carolyn Sue.
Memorial services will be conducted at 11 am on Friday, November 1st at the Spring Hill Christian Church in Mooresville with Pastor Mark Wright officiating. Visitation will be from 10 am until the hour of service on Friday, November 1st at the church.

Mildred L. (Gammon) Quinn – Spencer
Mildred L. (Gammon) Quinn, 88, of Spencer, passed away peacefully on October 28, 2013 at 2 p.m. at the Owen Valley Health Campus in Spencer, Indiana. She was formerly a resident of Shoals.
Mildred was born on April 23, 1925 in Shoals, to Clay and Sophia (Abel) Gammon. She was first married to Paul Hovis. She then married Melvin “Gene” Quinn in January of 1955 and he preceded her in death on October 11, 1963.
She retired from U.S. Naval Weapons Support Center in Crane as a bookkeeper. When she lived in Shoals she attended the Fairview Community Church.
She is survived by her son, James C. Hovis, of Shoals; three daughters, Brenda White, of Spencer, Melvina Reynolds, of Indianapolis, Debra Wyatt, of Greencastle; nine grandchildren; ten great grandchildren, and two great great grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by a daughter, Juanita “Jeannie” Quinn in 1986 and a brother Elmer Gammon in 1994.
Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Friday, November 1, 2013 at the Queen-Lee Funeral Home in Shoals. A funeral will be held on Saturday at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. She will be laid to rest next to her husband in Spring Hill Cemetery.
