Virgil Louis Padgett – Bedford
Virgil Louis Padgett, 83, of Bedford, died at 7:40 a.m. on Wednesday, September 11, 2013, at I.U. Health Hospice House, Bloomington.
Born March 7, 1930, in Williams, IN he was the son of Arnold Padgett and Oma (Bex) Padgett. After the death of his mother, he and his two brothers, Harold and Arnold, lived with his grandparents Louis and Anna Padgett in their love-filled home in Williams. He married Gloria Gilstrap on May 30, 1950, and she survives.
He was a graduate of Williams High School, Class of 1948 and of the Western Electronic Institute, Los Angeles, CA and was an electrical contractor; he was a veteran of the Korean War, serving with the U.S. Army Airborne; he was a member of the Calvary Lutheran Church, Bedford, and of the American Legion, Gillen Post #33, Bedford.
Surviving are his wife, Gloria Padgett, Bedford; two daughters, Rita Hutcherson, Bedford and Monna Guignard, Indianapolis; five grandchildren, Shane and Tristan Hutcherson, Neysa (Mohamed Baba), Haley (Seth Christenberry) and Luc L. Guignard; four great grandchildren, Cody, Phoebe, Brayden and Ryan Hutcherson; two brothers, Harold (Irene) Padgett, Switz City and Arnold “Buck” (Emilie) Padgett, Bloomington; and one aunt, Mary Embree, Bedford.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Sunday, September 15, 2013, at the Calvary Lutheran Church, Bedford, with Rev. Charles A. Groth officiating. Burial will be in Williams Cemetery. Military rites will be accorded by member of the American Legion, Gillen Post #33, Bedford. Friends may call from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday at the Ferguson-Lee Funeral Home, Bedford.
