Jean Deloris Chaney – Bedford
Jean Deloris Chaney, 83, of Bedford, passed away at 10:30 P.M. on Sunday, September 8, 2013, in Bedford.
Born November 19, 1929 in Bloomington, she was the daughter of Martin Luther and Rebecca Francis (Harrell) McKnight. She married Fred Chaney Jr. on September 18, 1948; and he preceded her in death. She worked for M. Fine and Co. as a clothing manufacturer and was a graduate of Shawswick High School.
Surviving are three daughters, Sharon M. and husband Bret Tedrow, Waunona and husband Kenny Bradford, and Delores Hamilton; four grandchildren, Amber Bradford, Katrina Bradford, and Tommy and Sandra Hamilton; one great grandchild, David Pate; one sister, Ruth Batman; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and five siblings, Helen Parks, Edith Watson, Bill McKnight, Claude McKnight, and Betty Cantrell.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 14, 2013, at 3 p.m.. at Mundell Christian
Church.

E. Viola New – Bedford
E. Viola New, 90, of Peerless Road, Bedford, where she had lived for sixty-six years, died at 1 pm on Monday, September 9, 2013 at Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis.
Born April 28, 1923, she was the daughter of A.J. and Nora E. (Short) Anderson. She married Jim New on May 10, 1942 and he survives. She was a graduate of Oolitic High School with the class of 1941. She attended Indiana University and retired as an ordinance worker at NWSC Crane. She was a member of the Free Methodist Church where she taught Sunday school and was the oldest member of the cradle roll. She was a member of the Dive Home Ec. Club, D.A.R. and enjoyed crocheting, gardening and spending winters in Texas.
Survivors include her husband of 71 years, Jim, of Bedford; a son, Jackson “Jack” Wayne New of Hope, IN; three daughters, Rebecca V Wagner of Manhattan, KS, Noretta K. Abel and husband, Garrett Wayne of Calvert, KY, Mary Fann New of Bedford; 8 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; 14 great great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, M. Maxine Moore.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1 pm on Friday, September 13th at the Free Methodist Church with Pastor John Lane officiating. Entombment will follow in Cresthaven Memory Gardens. Visitation will be from 3 pm to 8 pm on Thursday, September 12th and from noon until the hour of service on Friday at the Day & Carter Mortuary.
