Margie J. Haste, 81, of Mitchell passed away at 8:30 a.m. Monday, at Mitchell Manor Living and Rehabilitation Center.

Barbara J. Knowles – Mitchell
Barbara J. Knowles, 79, of Mitchell, passed away at 11:02 p.m. Friday, May 24, 2013, at Mitchell Manor Living and Rehabilitation Center.
Born November 15, 1933, in Mitchell, she was the daughter of Dale “Red” and Velma M. (Bixler) Lanier. She married William F. Knowles February 25, 1951.
Barbara was a homemaker and a member of Tulip Street Christian Church and the Lawrence County Art Association.
Survivors include her husband, William F. Knowles, Mitchell; sons, Kim Knowles, Mitchell, Steve Knowles, Scottsburg, Jeff Knowles, Mitchell; grandchildren, Sam Knowles, Jamie Knowles, Bryce Knowles, Cory Knowles, and Kameron Swank; 5 great grandchildren; sister, Mary Sue Thompson, Columbus, Indiana
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, May 30, in the Memorial Chapel of Chastain Funeral Home & Cremation Center with Pastor Robert Courson officiating. Burial will be in Mitchell Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday and from noon until the service on Thursday at the funeral home.

Harry “Sonny” Dorsett – Mitchell
Harry “Sonny” Dorsett, 89, passed away at 10:50 a.m. Saturday, May 25, 2013, at Indiana University Health Bloomington Hospital.
Born February 24, 1924, in Pittsburg, Illinois, he was the son of Harry H. and Maude (Weddle) Dorsett. He married Sheila Carroll January 13, 1946.
For 38 years Sonny owned and operated the Phillips 66 and Marathon service stations at Four Points in Mitchell. He served 16 years on the Mitchell Community Schools School Board during the construction of Hatfield Elementary School and the Mitchell Junior-Senior High School. He attended the Mitchell Presbyterian Church and was a member of Mitchell Masonic Lodge No. 228 F.&A.M. He graduated from Huron High School in 1942.
Sonny was a U. S. Army Air Corps veteran of World War II and served in Italy. His decorations and citations included World War II Victory Medal, Distinguished Unit Badge, American Theater Ribbon, European African Middle Eastern Theater Ribbon with 7 Bronze Stars, and Good Conduct Medal. He was a member of American Legion Post No. 250.
Survivors include his wife of 67 years, Sheila Dorsett, Mitchell; daughter, Christina Lee and husband Larry Brown, Mitchell; son, Kippie Joe Dorett and wife Vanessa, Mitchell; grandchildren, Melissa Brown and husband Steve Deer, Knoxville, Tennessee,Rebecca Lynn Brown and husband Eric Mason, Mitchell; great grandchildren, Joshua David Deer and wife Katie, Nathan Daniel Deer, Cole Thomas Mason, Logan Patrick Mason, Ryan Spurgeon, Nicolas Spurgeon, Hunter Spurgeon; great great granddaughter, Eliza Rose Deer.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Harry Clinton “Butch” Dorsett; and siblings, Pauline Abram, Frances Embree, Wilma Shearhart, Robert Dorsett, Lawrence Dorsett, William Dorsett, and Patty Moffatt.
Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Friday, May 31, in the Memorial Chapel of Chastain Funeral Home & Cremation Center with Pastor Larry Brown officiating. Burial will be in Mitchell Cemetery with military honors accorded by American Legion Post No. 250 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 9107. Friends may call from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday and from 9 a.m. until the service on Friday at the funeral home.
