The following obituaries were received for Wednesday –


Rebecca S. Houseman – Veron, Iowa
Rebecca S. (Robinson) Houseman, 79, of Veron, Iowa, passed on to Glory on February 24, 2013, at home in Mt. Vernon, Iowa, with her family surrounding her.
She was born in Oolitic, on April 9, 1933, to Leslie D. and Viola (Duncan) Robinson. Bedford would be her home, where she graduated from high school and returned following the retirement of her husband Mst. Sgt. Carl H. Houseman, Jr., in 1973. They were married on June 4, 1955. While a Marine wife she lived in North Carolina, Michigan, California and Missouri. “Becky” worked at JC Penney in Bedford for many years and enjoyed the friends she made and the people she met during her years working sales.
Becky and Carl had two children, Juliann (Houseman) Caruthers and Scott Eric Houseman.
Julie and her husband Tom, who was adored by Becky, live in Mt. Vernon, Iowa. Their son Jesse T.Caruthers, Becky’s pride and joy, Lives in Carpentersville, IL.
Becky loved Bedford and Indiana basketball and her family and friends. She was the life of the party and a joy to all who knew her.
She is survived by her daughter, Julie; son-in-law Tom; grandson, Jesse; sister, Christina (Robinson) Roell, Mt. Pleasant, SC; sister-in-law Barbara Robinson, Bedford; 12 nieces and nephews and their extended family; several treasured cousins like Rita Penney and Diana Sullivan; and her two best friends, Sharon Whitford and Marilyn Hayes and her two little dachshunds, Hannah and Sophie.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one son Scott Eric Houseman; one brother, Darrell Robinson; a nephew John L. Roell; and a brother-in-law, John W. Roell.
A Memorial Service and Celebration of Becky’s life will be held on Saturday, March 2, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at Ferguson-Lee Funeral Home, followed by a short graveside service at Green Hill Cemetery. Pastor Reed Beard will officiate.
There will be no visitation hours as it was Becky’s wish to be cremated.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital or Mercy Hospice of Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
