Robert W. “Rabbi” Bourland – Bedford
Robert W. “Rabbi” Bourland, 69, of Bedford, passed away at 10 a.m. on Sunday, August 26, 2012 at his home.
Born June 18, 1943 in Lawrence County, he was the son of Williams S. and Agnes (Gyger) Bourland. He was a hydraulics engineer for Idra in Kokomo. He was a member of the Bedford Boat & Sportsman’s Club, V.F.W. Gillen Post 33 American Legion and National Guard. He loved to play Santa Clause for all children.
Survivors include a daughter, Luann Smith and husband Steve, of Simpsonville, SC; a grandson, Garrett Baker, of Simpsonville, SC; three sisters, Betty Bourland, Pat Bruin and Jeri Cain all of Bedford; five nieces, Annette Warnick and husband Bob, Sherri Sons and husband Louie and Carri Smith, all of Bedford. Michelle Brown and husband Brian, of Newburg, Susan Cannon, of Cynthiana, KY; several great nieces, nephews, great great nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one nieces, Lesia Cox and a great niece, Jessica Case.
Funeral service will be at 8 p.m. on Wednesday, August 29th in the Elmwood Chapel of Day & Carter of Mortuary. Cremation will follow. Visitation will be from 1 p.m. until the hour of service on Wednesday, August 29th at Day & Carter Mortuary.
