Robert E. Woods – Spring City, Tennessee
Robert E. Woods, 90, of Spring City, Tennessee, passed away at 3:25 p.m. on Thursday, August 23, 2012 at his home.
Born April 28, 1922 in Medora, he was the son of Daniel Wirt Wood and Grace (Johnson) Woods. He married Dorothy L. Louden and she preceded him in death in 1995. He then married Ella Mathis and she preceded him in death in 1009. He retired from General Motors in Marion, Indiana in 1987. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and was part of the 275 Cannon Company 70th Divisions having served in France and Germany.
Survivors include two daughters, Kay and husband Walter Norris, of Mooresville and Patty and husband Arthur Guthrie, of Bedford; one stepdaughter, Pat and husband Nolan Brown; two stepsons, Dwight and wife Linda Mathis and Royce Mathis, all of Spring City, TN; five grandchildren, Clinton Norris, Jeff Norris, Bryan Guthrie, Amy Norris and Mary Burton; four step grandchildren, five great grandchildren; six step grandchildren; one great great grandchild; three sisters, Loyett Harrison, of Medora, Wynona Lienhoop, of Columbus, Peggy and husband Floyd Meahl, of Vallonia and several nieces and nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wives; one stepdaughter; Gaily Hanynes; three brothers, Harlan, Buddy and Talmadge Woods and one sister, Rosetta Fish.
Friends may call on Monday at 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. with a funeral service to follow at 3 p.m. at Ferguson-Lee Funeral Home, with Mike Davis officiating. Burial will be in Green Hill Cemetery, with military graveside rites accorded by the American Legion Gillen Post 33.
