Freddie T. Salmon – Bedford
Freddie T. Salmon, 83, of Bedford, passed away Wednesday, March 7, 2012 at 12:35 a.m. at his home.
Born February 24, 1929 in Bedford, he was the son of Walter Salmon and Lola (Bolding) Salmon Hancock.
He married Mary Newton on December 19, 1952 and she survives.
He attended Shoals High School. Freddie served in the Korean War with the United States Air Force and was the former Commander of VFW Post 11306 in Bedford. He served as an elder of the Southland Church of Christ since 1985 and taught Bible study at the church.
He was first employed by Sarkas Tarzen in Bloomington where he met his wife. He then worked at NWSC Crane and retired in 1979, and then worked at Visteon.
Survivors include his wife Mary Salmon, of Bedford; three sons, Daniel and wife Mary Beth Salmon, of Martinsville, Mark and wife Denise Salmon, of Mitchell, Alan Salmon, of Indianapolis; two daughters, Susan and husband Tony Hutton, of Bedford, Lisa and husband Mark Jenkins, of Springville; two sisters, Geraldine Brown, of Bedford, Evelyn Pridemore, of Bedford; 12 grandchildren, and several great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, David Salmon and John Salmon, one sister Phyllis Robbins.
Funeral services will be on Saturday, March 10, 2012 at 11 a.m. at the Southland Church of Christ, with Brother Bud Smith officiating. Burial will be in Cresthaven Memory Gardens, with military rites accorded by the American Legion Gillen Post 33. Friends may call on Friday from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Ferguson-Lee Funeral Home.
